“We believe that the best outdoor learning combines adventure skills, personal and social development and learning about the environment. We aim to engage groups, staff and the wider public in a way that supports this”

Outdoor Learning provides opportunities to find out more about ourselves, other people, our communities and the natural world.

Through our programmes and activities we aim to demonstrate the positive value of integrating conservation, education and recreation.

By working in partnership with other services and organisations and by considering local and national plans and strategies, we have identified five over-arching aims that will enable the vision to be realised:

  • promote outdoor learning by inspired teaching and the enthusiastic sharing of information and best practice
  • provide meaningful, challenging and enjoyable outdoor learning experiences
  • build a wide outdoor learning network by providing quality training and professional advice to partners across all Fife Council services
  • provide a robust safety management system for outdoor learning, adventure activities and excursions
